What Sized Package Can I Put In a UPS Drop Box?

UPS drop box maximum package size is 16” x 13” x 3”. The package must also weigh under 70 pounds.

In addition to size and weight limitations, some things can’t be dropped off in UPS drop boxes. These items include:

  • Hazardous materials
  • Liquids
  • Flammable materials
  • Perishable goods

TIP: Make sure you don’t seal the package until you are at the drop box because it allows the UPS employee to inspect the package for prohibited items.

Still, there is a last catch that you need to know (we promise)…

How Many Packages Can I Drop Off At Once?

You might be running a small business, and have multiple boxes that have prepaid UPS labels.

There are two ways to do it:

  1. Instead of scheduling UPS Package pickups, you should take them to your local UPS hub, not the UPS store. Because on Fridays they only allow max 10 package pickups.
  1. Due to weight or dimensions issues, you can avoid taking all the packages yourself in case there are multiple packages. The solution for this is to ‘Schedule an on call pickup.’

Note: Regularly the package limit is 30 for scheduled call pickup. So, write the actual number of packages in the NOTES. The driver might need help to carry all of your packages. But your stuff will get picked up eventually.

This way you can even deliver 500 packages if you want!

Will UPS Provide Receipt For Drop Off?

Kinda smart if you thought about this, like how would you provide proof that you even dropped the prepaid package in the first place? Hmm…

First off, It is not necessary to get a receipt for drop off for prepaid UPS packages, but it can be helpful if you need to file a claim if the package gets lost.

Also, the receipt will show the tracking number for your package, the date and time it was dropped off, and the location where it was dropped off.

If you’ve chosen the below locations:

  • USPS Store
  • UPS Access Point
  • FedEx Offices
  • Authorized Shipping Outlet (Walgreens)

You will usually get it from the UPS employee who accepts your package. But sometimes they don’t provide the receipt. If that franchise isn’t staffed by imbeciles you should have no trouble whatsoever.

If it is the case, you should find another store. However, if you are dropping off your package at a UPS Drop Box (self service), you will need to print out your receipt from the UPS website or app.
